Microbiology & Virology

Quest Biomedical supplies a wide range of products for microbiology and virology and distributes products in the UK and Ireland from Fujifilm, Vircell, Virion Serion, Zeus Scientific, Durviz and AB Analitica (UK only, excluding Northern Ireland).

Our range of products from AB Analitica includes RealQuality Real-Time PCR tests and quantitative standards, AmpliQuality end-point PCR tests and a series of Real-Time and End-Point PCR tests and a sample collection kit for HPV identification and typing.

Vircell produces a range of PCR-based Speed Oligo rapid tests and an extensive collection of DNA/RNA PCR controls, which can be used as positive controls in conventional and Real-Time PCR on any PCR platform and are also suitable for use as extraction controls. Quest Biomedical also distributes the Fujifilm QuickGene series of highly cost-effective and easy-to-use systems for isolating DNA and RNA from blood and a wide range of other samples.

We supply a wide range of IFA and ELISA kits from Vircell and Zeus Scientific. Vircell produces IFA and ELISA kits for the detection of the most important pathogenic microorganisms and multi-test kits are also available, which allow the simultaneous testing of multi-organism disease panels for pneumonia diagnosis. Vircell ELISA kits are suitable for use on automated ELISA processing systems and customised reagent and control racks are available for the Dynex DS2 and DSX systems.

Zeus Scientific ELISA tests can also be run in a manual or automated capacity. All reagents are ready to use and the majority of kits use a common procedure and share several common reagents, making automation simple and efficient. Zeus Scientific IFA test systems are designed to be easy to read and provide laboratories with a wide assortment of substrates and kit sizes to choose from.

Also available from Vircell are: Brucellacapt - an immunocapture-agglutination assay for the diagnosis of chronic brucellosis; a range of cell lines used in cell culture-based microbiological diagnosis; monoclonal antibody kits containing antibodies and controls, as well as complete kits for direct investigation of infectious agents (usually cell culture); transport media; VIRapid immunochromatographic rapid test kits.

From Virion Serion, we supply ready-to-use positive control sera, which can be used as supplementary external quantitative and qualitative controls, in addition to those supplied with ELISA test kits.  Available from Durviz are the Mini-System faecal parasite concentrator and Graham’s Test.
